Handmade by women from Si-Tek Sewing in Guatemala, with a featured design by students from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Each bag measures 9.5″ wide (but can expand up to 11″) x 6″ deep x 10.25″ high.
Located near Guatemala City, Si-Tek Sewing trains women to sew, which gives them the ability to provide for their families. In Guatemalan culture, when women are able to earn an income, their husbands and families begin to see them as valuable people and they are less likely to experience abuse or neglect. With seven donated sewing machines, Si-Tek Sewing currently produces purses, cosmetic pouches, totes and Christmas stockings.
Si-Tek Sewing is also a part of House of Hope, which provides food, clothing, health care, education and bible studies to poor children, operates dental clinics and provides permanent housing for local families. House of Hope is working to become fully self-sustaining, and to begin providing day care, health care and education for local families.
